Description

A simple sandwich that is sweet with a little touch of savory from the peppery basil and balsamic. It's incredibly easy to assemble and doesn't require any cooking other than a toaster!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 slices bread, your favorite
  • 1-2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 2 tsp balsamic blackberry jam, * see notes
  • 1 tbsp blackberry jam
  • small handfull fresh blackberries
  • 3-5 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp maple syrup, optional

Instructions

  1. Toast your favorite kind of bread. Spread cream cheese on two slices of toasted bread.
  2. On the one slice of bread: spread a thin layer of the balsamic blackberry  jam (or balsamic glaze + blackberry jam), spread another thin layer with blackberry jam. Cover with a small handful of fresh blackberries and fresh basil leaves.
  3. And an optional drizzle of maple syrup. Cover with the other cream cheese spreaded toast.

Notes

* This is the leftovers from the Blackberry Glazed Brussels Sprouts and Broccoli. I highly recommend this for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but if you don't want to make the blackberry glaze you can make a quick fix right now: 1 tbsp blackberry jam mixed with 1/2 tsp blackberry glaze.
