Whether it's a busy Monday morning or you're simply craving a healthy pick-me-up, this smoothie is here to deliver on taste and nutrition.

Why you'll love it

Green smoothies are a fantastic way to pack in nutrients, especially after a weekend of indulgent eating.

This green smoothie with grapes balances the freshness of green grapes and mint with the creaminess of avocado and banana, making it both healthy and delicious. It's perfect as a quick breakfast, a post-workout snack, or even a light lunch option.

The combination of ingredients isn't just about taste-it's about providing your body with essential nutrients:

  • Avocado contributes healthy fats for sustained energy.
  • Green grapes are rich in antioxidants and vitamins.
  • Chia seeds offer fiber and omega-3 fatty acids for digestion and overall health.
  • Hemp seeds are good for battling obesity, high blood pressure, and skin allergies.

This smoothie is also quick and easy to make and pairs well with other light, healthy breakfasts like Turkish eggs, scrambled eggs, or chia yogurt bowl.

It's also a great way to introduce greens to your diet without sacrificing flavor.

If these arguments spoke to you, I'm sure you will also love the coffee banana smoothie filled with chia seeds and oats.

Ingredients

This smoothie includes a carefully curated mix of ingredients that taste great and support your health:

  • Green Grapes: The star ingredient, providing a fresh, sweet flavor and a boost of antioxidants.
  • Avocado: Adds creaminess and healthy fats.
  • Banana: Naturally sweetens the smoothie and enhances its texture. It's also rich in potassium.
  • Spinach: One of my all-time favorite ways to add nutrients to a smoothie. High in vitamin A (for skin and eye health), vitamin C (immune support), and vitamin K (important for blood clotting and bone health).
  • Mint: Adds a refreshing touch without overpowering the other flavors.
  • Light coconut milk: Makes the smoothie rich and creamy while keeping it dairy-free.
  • Chia Seeds: Boosts fiber content and supports digestion.
  • Hemp seeds: a powerful and healthy ingredient that supports blood pressure and skin allergies.
  • Honey: To adjust the sweetness, if necessary. It's also a great ingredient for your immune system.

Ingredients to make the green smoothie with grape.

Instructions

Prepare Ingredients: Wash the grapes and mint leaves. Peel and slice the avocado and banana. If you're using chia seeds, let them soak in a tablespoon of water for 10 minutes to "bloom" for better blending.

Blend: Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

Adjust Consistency: If the smoothie is too thick, add more water or coconut milk and blend again. If it's too thin, you can add more banana, spinach, or avocado.

Serve: Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.

Substitutions

  • Green grapes: Substitute with kiwi or cucumber for a different flavor profile.
  • Coconut milk: Replace with almond milk or regular milk if preferred.
  • Mint: Leave it out or replace it with a small piece of fresh ginger for a spicy kick.
  • Chia seeds: Use ground flax seeds or more hemp seeds instead for a similar health boost. It can also easily be omitted.

Variations

  • Thicker version: Add a handful of ice cubes for a frosty, milkshake-like texture. You can also use full-fat coconut milk for a thicker mouthfeel.
  • Protein-packed: Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to make this smoothie a complete meal.
  • Make it spicy: Add a small chunk of fresh ginger!

Equipment

A high-speed blender works best for achieving a smooth consistency. If using a standard blender, blend in short bursts and stir in between. It's also easier to blend if you start with the liquids first.

Storage

This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh, but you can prepare it ahead of time. Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir before drinking, as separation may occur.

For an even quicker option, freeze pre-portioned smoothie ingredients in bags-just add liquid and blend when ready.

Expert tips

  • Frozen banana: Using frozen bananas enhances the texture and gives the smoothie a creamy, milkshake-like quality.
  • Adjust sweetness: Taste the smoothie before serving and add honey or more grapes if needed. It's naturally not too sweet, but it will depend on the sweetness of the grapes and banana.
  • Blend well: Ensure all ingredients are thoroughly blended for the best texture. Sometimes I think it's done, but realize I should have blender 30 seconds more, so pro tip.

Description

Get your body straight by fuelling it right! This green smoothie with grapes and avocado doesn't just taste amazing, it is healthy too.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup green grapes (75 grams)
  • 1 frozen banana, cut into chunks (before freezing!)
  • 1 packed cup spinach (or kale, 250 milliliters)
  • 1 cup light coconut milk (250 milliliters)
  • ¼ avocado
  • A few mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Blend until smooth in a blender. Add a splash of water if the consistency is too thick, and honey if you find it's not sweet enough. Enjoy!
  2. This will be even better if you can spare 10 minutes to bloom the chia seeds: Combine the chia seeds with 4 teaspoons water, and let them sit "to bloom" for 10 minutes. Easier to digest and smoother to blend!
