Description

Honey Glazed Pork Chops, is a perfect balance of sweet honey and subtle heat from chili that’s as simple to prepare as it is delicious.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup honey (150 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Aleppo chili flakes (or 1/2 teaspoon regular chili flakes)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 4-6 large pork chops
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, dark soy sauce, Aleppo chili flakes, ground chili powder, ground onion, ground garlic, and half the pepper. Set aside.
  2. Season the pork chops: Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Sprinkle the remaining pepper and salt on both sides of the chops.
  3. Sear the pork chops: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet (or grill pan) over high heat. Place the seasoned pork chops in the pan and cook for 5 minutes on one side to achieve a golden-brown sear.
  4. Flip: Flip the chops and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes (depending on thickness) on the other side.
  5. Glaze and finish: During the last minute of cooking, spoon or brush the honey glaze over the chops. Flip the chops often to evenly coat them in the glaze, ensuring the sauce caramelizes without burning.
  6. Rest: Once the internal temperature of the pork reaches 145°F (63°C), remove the chops from the heat and let them rest briefly.
  7. Optional sauce: Warm the remaining glaze in a small saucepan over low heat (or microwave), stirring frequently. Drizzle this heated glaze over the chops when serving or reserve it for your side dishes.

Notes

The glaze can be made well in advance, about a week.
